This harp was made in Chicago by Lyon & Healy; on the brass plate of the neck is engraved the signature: Lyon & Healy Chicago Makers N_ 801 Manufactured under five Patents. Under the bottom of the soundbox there is also the number 807. From a structural standpoint the soundbox features a semicircular section and reinforcing ribs inside, besides a peculiar metal rod; the neck is made of layered wood and is reinforced on the outside by the brass plates that enclose the double action mechanism. This harp’s design, in Japanese style (though interpreted in the Art Nouveau fashion), was created by the Lyon & Healy’s craftsmen in 1898; in the original model all the figurines were brightly coloured, while this harp is entirely gilt.
